Bayshore Feeds in Owen Sound has graciously made up ones for our members at an extremely low cost of $10 (which is easily half the cost of the original price): members must let Gloria or Carolyn know if they wish to purchase one so Carolyn can get it from Bayshore.

NEW Miniature Horse Club Formed

Submitted by Carolyn Aarup, Georgian Triangle 4H Miniature Horse Club Leader

The demand was there, the interest level was high … a 4H Miniature Horse club in Bruce Grey and Grey County area was needed. With determination and enthusiasm, Gloria White of Stayner, a current 4H member (in cattle and a variety of other 4H clubs), initiated the formation of the Georgian Triangle 4H Miniature Horse Club, starting with 7 members and is being led by Carolyn Aarup of Dakota Winds Farm in Meaford.

Gloria and Carolyn have worked hard to create a program in their area for their members which will cover a variety of topics such as Basic Miniature Horse Care & Handling, right up to Show Ring Etiquette to help the kids get ready for their 4H Achievement day scheduled for Sept 19 at the Collingwood Fair. The Georgian Triangle 4H Miniature Horse Club held its first meeting in March which served as an introductory session in which the kids met each other and discussed the meeting topics for the 2008 year. Recently, in April, the members met at Gloria’s farm and Carolyn taught them concepts of Basic Horse Care & Handling, conformation, Show Halter fitting, Grooming and Clipping.

This new club is open to anyone who is 10-21 years of age and interested in Miniature Horses. Although it is preferable that you own or have access to a Miniature horse, arrangements may be made to have use of a horse for the 4H project season. For more information and/or a Calendar of Events for 2008, please contact Carolyn Aarup at 519053803114 or visit the Georgian Triangle 4H Miniature Horse Club link on this website: http://www.dakotawintsfarm.com/GeorgianTriangle4HMiniatureHorseClub.htm If you would like to learn more about 4H Ontario programs in general, visit the official 4Hwebsite http://www.4-hontario.ca/

The club would like to extend a special than you to Bayshore Feeds of Owen Sound for kindly organizing the clubs’ grooming kits and Mike and Kelly Doherty of Meaford for their donation of show halters for the members to use on their horses throughout the 4H year.
